Terms and Conditions

1. General

1.1. These General Terms and Conditions regulate the ordering and delivery of entrance tickets and the visit to the visitors center Lam Gods Sint-Baafs in the St. 'Kerkfabriek Sint-Baafs'), with registered office at Hoofdkerkstraat 1, 9000 Ghent and with company number 0211.244.818 (hereinafter simply referred to as the 'Kerkfabriek') is the manager. Every visitor who orders tickets and/or presents himself at the entrance of the Visitor Center is deemed to have read and accepted these General Terms and Conditions. The General Terms and Conditions can be changed at any time by the Kerkfabriek; the most recent version is always available on the website of St. Bavo's Cathedral (www.sintbaafskathedraal.be).

1.2. The visitor enters the Visitor Center at his own risk. The Visitor Center is not responsible for loss, theft or damage to personal property or goods during the visit, even if stored in the lockers, nor for physical damage resulting from unintentional acts or omissions.

1.3. The visitor will take note of the current Visitor Regulations of St. Bavo's Cathedral, as shown on the St. Bavo's Cathedral website at the time of the visit, and he is deemed to have accepted these regulations. Our employees are entitled to remove visitors from St. Bavo's Cathedral who do not comply with the visitor and access conditions, or who threaten to disrupt order. In such a case, the visitor is not entitled to compensation or refund. The visitor will always comply with the instructions and requests of employees of St. Bavo's Cathedral during his visit.

1.4. De Kerkfabriek reserves the right to close the Visitor Center (temporarily) or St. Bavo's Cathedral without prior notice for urgent technical, operational or other reasons; no refunds or damages will be made under such circumstances. If the visitor has provided correct and complete contact details, the Kerkfabriek will do its best to notify the visitor of an unforeseen closure, but this cannot always be guaranteed.

2. Tickets

2.1. Tickets can be reserved and paid for online or at the ticket counter of the Visitor Center. The tickets always only grant access to the Visitor Center on the indicated reserved date and time period (hereinafter the 'reservation'). The reservation process on the website can be carried out in the following languages, at the visitor's choice: Dutch, French and English.

2.2. Online ordering of tickets is only possible subject to immediate payment using the provided payment methods. The visitor does not have the right to cancel the purchase.

2.3. The Visitor Center will confirm a valid and paid online order with an email sent to the email address provided by the visitor (called an 'e-ticket'). The offer of tickets at a certain price, on the website or otherwise, is only binding for De Kerkfabriek when the order is thus confirmed. After the order has been confirmed, it is no longer possible to change or move the reservation of tickets.

2.4. The visitor must have the ordered or purchased (e-)ticket with him during the visit (clearly readable digitally or on paper). Tickets are only valid for the reserved date stated on them. Tickets automatically lose their validity without notice when the validity date expires. Individual tickets are only valid within the period stated on the ticket.

2.5. For schools and groups, the time or duration of the reserved time can be changed for technical reasons. De Kerkfabriek cannot be held responsible for any resulting damage or costs to the visitor(s), nor are the visitor(s) entitled to any refund. The special conditions for groups also apply to schools and groups.

2.6. If you arrive too late for the reserved time of the ordered ticket, you will not receive a refund of the entrance fee or any other form of compensation. De Kerkfabriek therefore requests (school) groups to be present no later than 15 minutes before the start of the reserved time.

2.7. Promotions and/or discounts do not apply to tickets unless explicitly stated in the promotional or competition conditions. Tickets will not be replaced or refunded in the event of loss or theft. Any ticket that cannot be scanned to gain access to the Visitor Center is invalid. The visitor is responsible for printing e-tickets legibly. A ticket only gives access to the Visitor Center once; there is no point in copying or printing a ticket more than once. Any rebooking to a new time will be considered a new reservation. De Kerkfabriek reserves the right to change the entrance fees to the Visitor Center at any time prior to purchase.

3. Change or cancellation by the Kerkfabriek

3.1. From time to time, the Kerkfabriek is forced to make changes, correct inaccuracies or cancel ticket reservations both before and after confirmation of the ticket order and the Kerkfabriek expressly reserves this right.

3.2. If important changes to or cancellation of orders are necessary, the Kerkfabriek will inform the visitor as soon as possible if the visitor has provided correct and complete contact details. However, De Kerkfabriek cannot guarantee under all circumstances that the visitor will be notified before the planned visit. If this is still possible before the visit, the visitor will be given the choice of the following options: a. accept the changed ticket. b. to accept an alternative reservation offer from the Visitor Center. This alternative will never exceed the amount originally paid by the visitor. c. to cancel or accept the cancellation, in which case the visitor will receive a full refund from the Kerkfabriek, either via a voucher, at the visitor's choice.

Please note: the previous options do not apply if the change is of an insignificant nature. In all cases, the Kerkfabriek's liability for important changes and cancellations is limited to offering the options mentioned above. Unfortunately, De Kerkfabriek cannot reimburse any additional expenses, costs or losses incurred by the visitor as a result of any change or cancellation of an order.

4. Access

4.1. The Visitor Center can only be entered with a valid entrance ticket. Visitors in possession of an e-ticket must exchange it at the reception desk for an entrance ticket to the Lam Gods Sint-Baafs visitor center.

4.2. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by their parents or at least one adult supervisor (16 years or older). The supervisors are always responsible and accountable for the behavior of the accompanied minors, both individually and in groups. Visitor Center staff have the right to check the age of children.

5. The use of and damage to portable AR devices (hardware) during the visit

5.1. Visitors to the Visitor Center can follow a visit in Augmented Reality (AR tour) during their tour of the crypt of St. Bavo's Cathedral. Visitors can choose between two types of portable AR devices (hardware) on which the AR tour is played, currently the Microsoft Hololens 2 and the Apple iPad Mini 4 or another suitable portable AR device, of which only a limited number are available. for the visitors. If one of the two types of devices is temporarily unavailable, for example because they are all in circulation at busy times, the device that is immediately available will be offered. If desired, the visitor can wait until the device of his preference becomes available again. Under no circumstances can this lead to a cancellation or refund of the tickets or to any other form of compensation to the visitor.

5.2. The AR devices may only be used during the Visit to the Visitor Center and within the designated areas by the visitor who has received the AR device. The AR devices may not be exchanged between visitors. The visitor is obliged to always handle the AR device with care: this presupposes no abrupt or unexpected movements and not to drop it or allow it to collide with hard objects.

5.3. In the event of theft, attempted theft or intentional damage to the AR device by a visitor, the local police will always be notified.

5.4. In the event of removal or loss of the AR device or damage to the AR device due to carelessness on the part of a visitor or in the event of intentional damage, the visitor is obliged to reimburse the repair costs or the replacement value of the device, with a maximum of EUR 500.00 (five hundred euros) per device.

5.5. In case of technical problems with the AR device during the visit, the visitor must immediately return to the reception desk. If available, the visitor will receive a replacement device there to continue the visit.

6. Facilities for the differently abled

St. Bavo's Cathedral is fully accessible for wheelchair users. Wheelchair users are personally accompanied by a member of the reception team. For operational reasons, a short waiting time may sometimes apply. For operational and safety reasons, a maximum of two wheelchair users have access per time slot. If you wish to deviate from this, you must request this by telephone on tel. +32 (0) 9 269 20 45. If you are accompanied by a guide dog, you must report to the reception desk of St. Bavo's Cathedral before entering the Visitor Center. .

7. Visitor regulations

7.1. During the visit to the Visitor Center and St. Bavo's Cathedral, the visitor must respect the visitor regulations. Below are some provisions of those regulations:

7.2. Radios, MP3 players, portable speakers and other audio equipment, drinks and/or food, cameras, (hand) luggage, (stabbing) weapons and explosives are expressly prohibited. Mobile phones and smartphones must be switched off or put on silent mode during the visit to St. Bavo's Cathedral and the Visitor Center. (Pets) animals are not allowed in St. Bavo's Cathedral and the Visitor Center, with the exception of guide dogs provided with a dog coat (assistance dog).

7.3. Smoking is not permitted in all areas of St. Bavo's Cathedral and the Visitor Center.

8. Force majeure

Except as expressly provided in these General Terms and Conditions, the Kerkfabriek cannot accept any liability or grant any form of compensation or refund to the visitor if the performance or immediate performance of its contractual obligations is hindered or affected, or if the visitor suffers damage or loss as a result of force majeure. For the purposes of these General Terms and Conditions, force majeure means any event that could not reasonably be foreseen or prevented. Such events include, but are not limited to: war or threat of war, riots or civil unrest, terrorist activities, industrial unrest, strikes, natural or nuclear disasters, extreme weather conditions, fire, storms and flooding, viral outbreaks, epidemics or pandemics, government-imposed measures , including closures, and all similar events over which De Kerkfabriek has no control.

9. Miscellaneous provisions

9.1. Any dispute between a visitor on the one hand and the Kerkfabriek on the other is governed exclusively by Belgian law, to the exclusion of Belgian private international law. Any dispute between the mentioned persons will be settled exclusively by the courts of the judicial district of East Flanders, Ghent department.

9.2. The visitor accepts that in the event of a dispute regarding (alleged) transactions, the data on the Kerkfabriek server can be used to prove or deny certain transactions.

9.3. During the ordering process on the website of St. Bavo's Cathedral, the visitor has the option to correct input errors by returning to the previous pages by clicking on the indicated arrows. Before the final order is placed, the visitor receives an overview of the intended order. When the visitor pays for the displayed order and finally submits it, he has made a reservation, which becomes final and binding after confirmation by the Kerkfabriek.
