Eucharist celebration of St. Bavo's Cathedral Ghent

Eucharistic Celebrations

Saint Bavo's Cathedral is primarily a church and the bishop's church of the diocese of Ghent.

Since the construction works for the visitor center "Lam Gods Sint-Baafs" started, the daily Eucharistic celebration takes place at 11 am in St. Nicholas Church. This church is located 200 m from the cathedral. On Sundays and public holidays, services still continue in the cathedral. The chapter services (Monday and Friday at 8.45 am) take place in the choir of the cathedral.

From Sunday 14 June, the Eucharist will be celebrated again at 11 a.m. in the cathedral. In the context of the corona measures imposed by the National Security Council, we refer for more specific guidelines to the parish magazine "Church and Life" and the website of the parish H. Sint-Jan De Doper: kerknet.be

Opening hours

The cathedral stays open for personal prayer. Normal opening hours apply from July.

Take into account the government's COVID-19 regulations!

The chapter services may be restarted from September 2020!

The cathedral is the main church of the parish H. Sint-Jan De Doper in Ghent-Center.

Special religious ceremonies are announced in the parish magazine (Kerk en Leven) and mentioned below.
